3 Easy Ways to Improve the Appearance of Your Skin
TIP #1 Ditch the Toxins
One hundred and sixty-eight.
That’s the number of chemicals that the average woman is exposed to on a daily basis before even leaving her bathroom when she gets ready for the day. (No, she isn’t cleaning it.)
While not all 168 chemicals are harmful, the components that are lurking in your makeup, perfume, lotions, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets can range from fragrances, parabens, and BHT, to formaldehyde. That can be pretty scary. This is a lot for your body to process.
While not everything in small amounts is detrimental…it's the consistency of small amounts over time that can lead to big health problems later.
Your skin is your largest organ. It’s no surprise that it absorbs everything. Not just the lotions, body washes, and perfumes, but the clothing on your body that is washed in super scented soap, and then doused in “fabric softener”, topped off with scent beads, and finished with static cling resistant dryer sheets. And that’s before it even touches your body.
How many things go on your body before you leave the house? Tip #1: Ditch the toxins.
Tip #2 Use a Mineral-Based Sunscreen
We all know ultraviolet rays are carcinogenic. You’ve also likely heard the recommendation to wear sunscreen. Add a safe, mineral-based sunscreen to your morning routine to protect you from rays as you come and go throughout your day. Now you know that ingredients matter, so ditch the toxic, chemical-laden products and choose wisely when selecting protection for your skin. I’m super pumped to have a one-stop shop for all of my wellness products and earn product points for free products I love with every purchase. I recommend doTERRA’s Sun Line to pamper the skin you’re in! Tip #2: Use a mineral-based sunscreen.
Tip #3 Make Your Routine Fun
Ice rolling, Gua Sha, dry skin brushing? It’s time to add a spa vibe to uplevel your skincare routine!
Have you wanted to reduce puffiness and temporary inflammation in your face and neck? What about minimizing redness and tightening pores? How about soothing skin irritations (like breakouts & itchy skin)?
If you answered “yes!” to any of these, it’s time to talk Ice Rolling.
Ice Rollers:
Encourage and stimulate blood circulation to the face
Reduce swelling, inflammation, and puffiness
Minimize redness and pores
Promote tightening of the skin
Soothe irritation, such as breakouts, itching, redness, and pain
Promote lymphatic fluid drainage
These handy tools also help drive your products further into your skin and apply them more evenly (just make sure you wash your roller and dry it before tossing it back in the freezer).
Don’t have an ice roller just yet? Grab a wax cucumber, peel off 2 inches on one end, wrap in wax paper or foil, and place in your freezer. Massage your face. Peel as needed to freshen up your cucumber and refreeze.

Dry Skin Brushing
Have you heard of Dry Brushing?
✅ Dry brushing is beneficial for your skin and your lymphatic system.
This technique stimulates the lymphatic system, therefore, aiding in the ridding of toxins. The coarse bristles on the brush stimulate the pores and open them up promoting sweat and the removal of toxins, as well as aiding in the removal of dead skin cells.
To dry brush, use a natural fiber brush with a long handle. For added benefits, you can grab your Yarrow | Pom, Cypress, or Grapefruit essential oil and drop a few drops on the brush before you begin.
Get Started:
1️⃣ Start at your feet and move up your body.
2️⃣ Brush your skin using wide, circular, clockwise motions.
3️⃣ Use light pressure in areas where your skin is thin and harder pressure on thicker skin, like the soles of your feet.
4️⃣ Brush your arms after you have brushed your feet, legs, and mid-section. You should brush upward towards your armpits.
5️⃣ After dry brushing, take a cool shower to help remove the dry skin.
6️⃣ After your shower, dry off and then consider adding dōTERRA Spa lotion or Body Butter.
